The federal government of Nigeria on thursday re-arraigned senate president Olubukola Saraki on three amended charges of alleged false asset declaration before the code of conduct Tribunal. Saraki pleaded not guilty to the charges.
In the new charges, the federal government accused the senate president of abusing his office while he was serving as the governor of Kwara State between october 2006 to may 2007 by obtainning aloan from GTB to acquire property at 17a and 17 b Mcdonald street Ikoyi Lagos and Saraki failed to declare the property which was acquired at N497 .2 MILLION.
The senate president was also accused of failure to disclose leasehold interest in property located at number 42 Remi Fani Kayode street Ikeja lagos allegedlly acquired through his company Skyview property company..
Furthermore he was also accused of receiving monthly salary between june 2011 and october 2013 when he was a senator.
